LJ-Picturing Food, 5.14.06: my life as a danish
My squash arrangement. Who needs flowers?
Random stuff first
Curry couscous salad. I always want to put out pamphlets explaining what couscous is because I'm always inevitably asked when I bring couscous to a potluck. =)
Violet's photos of Tammie Coe carrot cake cupcake and sinsational chocolate thing (truffle cake) with raspberries.
Nikki's lemon that she gave me is almost as big as her head! I told her that if lemon's could talk, I bet they'd tell good jokes.
Violet's jicama that she made into slaw (for the aforementioned potluck--"what's a hick-uh-muh?") is almost as big as her head! I don't think their jokes would be as funny as lemons'.
Violet made mini cupcakes, but they were hugely good!
Local Dejool date.
Pizza night! Violet's trying to use up flour, so she made a lot of pizza dough, and we made a lot of pizza.
Violet's photos, the "after" shots, are the bigger, clear ones.
Wendy's pizza: Trying to recreate La Grand Orange's lemon, basil, mozzarella, and sun-dried tomato pizza.
Violet made Mexican pizza with refried beans, cheese, and enchilada sauce, and some lettuce and homemade salsa to go on afterward. I think this was my favorite of the night.
I made pizza with provolone, mozzarella, basil, roasted red peppers, zuchinni, and yellow squash.
I made the dessert pizza, too--apple pie pizza.
My housemate's friend graduated from college, so I made two chocolate cakes for her. One is dark and not-too-sweet with buttercream roses, and the other is lighter with chocolate ganache-covered strawberries.
The two together, partially eaten ... who did that?! Jeesh. I liked the one with the strawberries best.
moment of zen
My version of a happy meal: french bread, provolone, parsley, basil, spices sandwich, date nose, cupcake eyes with dried cranberries. Wooooot.
